Dear Club members
The achievements at the Club are great and varied and the AGM is a time to thank the executive and the volunteers for their service.
I thanked the committee members for their diligent and professional work this year. You can tell from the reports how well they carry out their roles and we can be proud to have so many volunteers on the committee who use their special expertise to advance the Club. As each year passes our communications have to respond to innovation and we have to rise to new challenges from Hockey Victoria. Given our size and restrictions in facilities we punch above our weight with flair, talent and hard work.
There are also many generous people who work hard behind the scenes in preseason to set up for the coming year and during the winter season from Pauline stocking the canteen and cleaning up to coaches organising extra sessions for training or team meetings.
Please take the time to send a message to those who might have made your day or at least made your Club a good place to be. Be mindful that what people do on the committee is not a job but a service.
We all thanked retiring committee members John Richards (secretary) and Mary Munson (social) for their service over the past years and welcomed new members Lucy Fogarty (secretary) and Lorna Utley (social).
The rest of the committee is the same and the Club is lucky to have their ongoing experience as well as new approaches.
Glen Furze was voted on as a life member and a tribute to his service to the Club can be found in my report as well as an update on the field surface. Despite the authorities pulling a rabbit out of the hat in a bid to stall it is still ongoing in the Parks Victoria office and I have my fingers crossed. I have been particularly happy with the support from Minister Martin Foley, Port Phillip council member Andrew Bond and the Port Philip administrative staff. If nothing else PHSTK Hockey Club is on the map.
There is a lot to enjoy in the reports so have a read.
